St. Landry Parish sales tax collections rise again

St. Landry Parish sales tax collections rose 6.8% through October compared to the same period in 2022. Collections through October totaled $80,869,543, up $5,176,659 over the 2022 year-to-date collections, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division.

Marvin Guy Newsom, Jr., an ultimate family man, was called to the Lord on Oct. 17, 2023. Guy was born to Marvin Guy Newsom, Sr., and Betty Jean (Manley) Newsom on Sept. 10, 1952, in Kermit, Texas. The Newsom family soon settled in Mamou, Louisiana.
