Mother charged with drug death of her infant child

An Acadia Parish woman has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide in the death of her infant child. On Aug. 11, deputies responded to Coon Richard Road near Morse regarding an unresponsive infant.

Gas leak causes 4-block evacuation in Eunice

A gas leak at Vivan and Williams avenue caused a four-block area to be evacuated from about 4:30 to 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Fire Chief Chaise Brown said there were no injuries reported.

Early voting ends Saturday

Early voting for the Nov. 18 election ends Saturday. Because of the Veterans Day holiday, early voting will not be available on Friday. At the end of voting on Tuesday, 1,282 votes had been cast in St. Landry Parish.

Veterans Day honors service
