Marshal’s Office employee wins annual Rotary award

Misty Credeur, a 13-year employee of City Marshal Terry Darbonne, won the Eunice Rotary Club’s annual Administrative Assistant of the Year award.
The award was presented Wednesday at the club’s 31st annual luncheon at St. Thomas More Church Hall.
The Rotary Club solicits nominations for the award.
Rotary Club member Jacques Pucheu presented the award to Credeur, who received a trip to Branson, Missouri, courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.

Acadian prairies good for health, wealth

When mapmaker William Darby toured south Louisiana in 1816, he was impressed with our mild climate, rich soils, and the huge potential of the prairies of the Attakapas and Opelousas districts which included practically all of southwest Louisiana.
The Attakapas district included what is now Lafayette, St. Martin, Iberia, St. Mary and Vermilion parishes. The Opelousas district included present day St. Landry, Evangeline, Acadia, Cameron, Calcasieu, Allen, Jefferson Davis and Beauregard parishes.

Thelma Theresa Hebert Moody passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017, surrounded by her family. Visitation for family friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Geesey Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church at 2:00 p.m.
