Celebrate Louisiana’s Arbor Day with a day full of activities and free tree seedlings at the Louisiana State Arboretum from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 21.
The tree seedling give-a-way will begin after the opening ceremony at 10 am.

Habitat loss turns some wildlife into nuisances

From black bears feeding on leftover pizza, coyotes preying on pets and feral hogs tearing up levees, animals and humans often find themselves conflict.
Sometimes, as in the case of wild hogs, the once domesticated animals almost defy control.
