Sheriff: 5 arrested when drug deal interrupted

Five people were arrested when St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s narcotics detectives interrupted a drug sale on July 14, according to a news release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. July 19 Donald J. Celestine, Jr., 27, 300 block of Paul Breaux Avenue, Lafayette. Bench warrant (2 counts). Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Brandon Miles Savoie, 39, 4300 block of Highway 182, Opelousas.

Acadia Parish Sheriff's arrests

Arrests reported by the Acadia Parish sheriff include the following. July 15 Tyler Hoyt, 36, Eunice. Detainer for St. Landry Parish. Lance Hargrave, 26, Eunice. Detainer for St. Landry Parish. Theft of firearm, theft of a motor vehicle. July 16 Noah Reed, 28, Iota.

Sister Margaret Siffert, O.S.B.

CULLMAN—Sister Margaret Siffert, O.S.B., a Benedictine Sister of Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman, AL, died on Thursday, July 14, at the age of 58, after an extended illness. Sisters and family members kept vigil at her bedside during her final days.
