School Board deliberates over deficit, pay raise

The St. Landry Parish School Board deliberated over a proposed $1 million budget deficit and a $500 pay raise for teachers at the second of three meetings on its 2022-2023 budget. Superintendent Patrick Jenkins said, “Yes, we can submit a budget to you that would be a break even budget.

Suspected shooter surrenders

Travis Godfrey, suspected of shooting two men to death at a Eunice gas station, surrendered to police Wednesday morning. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said Godfrey, 25, will be interviewed and booked on two warrants for first-degree murder. Godfrey will be taken to the St. Landry Parish Jail.
