K. Brent Vidrine, president and CEO of Bank of Sunset, was installed as the 2022-2023 chairman of the Louisiana Bankers Association’s Board of Directors during LBA’s 122nd Convention, held May 18-20 in New Orleans. Vidrine succeeds Jerry Ledet, president and CEO of Synergy Bank in Houma.

Louisiana lawmakers approve study of university tenure policy

The House gave final passage Monday to a resolution to study tenure policies at universities in Louisiana. Senate Concurrent Resolution 6, sponsored by Sen. Stewart Cathey, R-Monroe, creates the Task Force on Tenure in Postsecondary Education.

School Board approves special tax district on 8-4 vote

The St. Landry Parish School Board approved a tax district for the Opelousas High School attendance zone on an 8-4 vote on Monday. The tax district is to narrow the school district’s focus in raising funds for school improvement after voters defeated parish-wide bond proposals this year and in 2018.
