ST. LANDRY PARISH–The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is seeking the whereabouts of a Eunice man who has a warrant issued for his arrest in connection with a fire at his ex-girlfriend’s home.
Daundric Johnson, 25, is wanted for one count each of simple arson and criminal trespassing.
On Sunday, June 24, the Office of State Fire Marshals was contacted by the Eunice Fire Department just before 9:30 p.m. to assist in determining the origin and cause of a fire at a home in the 100 block of College Road in Eunice.
Investigators found two areas of origin for the fire and classified it as incendiary.
While the tenant was not home at the time of the fire, she told investigators that she had recently broken up with Johnson, and on Friday, told him to come get his things.
On the night of the fire, two different witnesses reported seeing Johnson either at the home, or driving in the area of the home, shortly before the fire was discovered. Area surveillance video confirmed those reports and an arrest warrant was issued Monday, June 25.
Investigators have identified a second potential suspect and are seeking that person out for an interview as well.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office encourages anyone who knows Daundric Johnson’s whereabouts to contact our Arson Hotline where information can be reported anonymously. Tips can be called in to 1-866-946-1097 or submitted online at https://sfm.dps.louisiana.gov/
