EUNICE–It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Deshotel announces her passing on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Oak Lane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Eunice at the age of 92. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1 p.m.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sylvester Lawrence Frey. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who gave everyone so much love.

Gerard “Jerry” Albertelli, Jr. passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the age of 69. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile with Father Keenan Brown celebrant. Rite of Committal will be held at 11 a.m.

Charles W. “Chookie” Derbes

Charles W. “Chookie” Derbes, age 94, a retired pharmacist, died on Saturday, January 22, 2022. No Services will be held at this time. “Chookie” was a graduate of Loyola School of Pharmacy, New Orleans, Louisiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lafayette for Richard E. D’Aquin Sr., 94, who died peacefully at his home in Lafayette on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022. A wake will be held at the church at 1 p.m.

Haguillory “Haye” Fontenot of Mamou, La., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, “pulling a Hank Snow” at the age of 96 years old. He was born on Sept. 2, 1925, in Vidrine, La. A Celebration of Haye’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan.

Jacqueline Blanchard passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the age of 68. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Clinton Sensat Celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum.

James “Russel” Courville

James “Russel” Courville, born September 8, 1948, quietly left this world Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021, at the age of 73. James was a United States Army Veteran, Vietnam War Veteran, and member of the Army National Guard.
