2 residences in Eunice raided

Eunice Police and St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies executed search warrants at two locations in Eunice beginning at 6 a.m. Thursday, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The residences were on Townhome Drive and at South Mallet and North Street, he said .
The search warrants were in relation to shootings that have occurred in Eunice., he said.
In the process, several weapons were seized along with drugs, he said.
Many of the people were found sleeping with guns nearby, he said.
One of the people in the house did reach for a weapon, he said, but was stopped by voice command.
Two of the warrants were for attempted murder, he said.
Among the weapons found was an AK-47 rifle.
The residences were entered simultaneously, he said.
Fontenot said there were no injuries.
