The St. Landry Parish Correctional Center comes to Crime Stoppers and requests help in locating an escaped inmate. On June 12, 2024, while on litter abatement detail, Richard Louis Deville escaped custody in the area of Laurel Street near Eunice Poultry. Deville is a black male, 5’11’’, 140 lbs.

Arrest made in 30-year-old sex crimes in Lawtell area

A 74-yar-old man is charged with a sex crimes that occurred 30 years ago in the Lawtell area, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz reported. Felton Gregory Leday, of the 9700 block of U.S. 190, Opelousas, is charged with one count of first-degree rape and three counts of sexual battery.

Violent crime arrests down in 2024

Violent crime arrests in Eunice were down in 2024 compared to 2023 according to a report released by Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef for Tuesday’s Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting. LeBouef pointed out there were 1,274 more traffic stops in 2024 compared to 2023.
