Guillory murder trial reset

The trial of Michael Anthony Guillory, charged with second-degree murder in the 2016 shooting death of a Church Point woman, has been reset for Dec. 7-11. This is the second time the trial has been reset.

Man succumbs to injuries sustained single-vehicle crash

At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 9, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on La. 749 near Hanger Road in St. Landry Parish. The crash ultimately took the life of 67-year-old Matthew Washington of Opelousas.

Drug trafficker from Ville Platte drug trafficker sentenced on federal charges

A Ville Platte man was sentenced Tuesday 10 years and seven months for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to U.S. Attorney Alexander Van Hook. Closton John Melvin, 33, also known as “Git Money C” and “C.J.” pled guilty to the charged on Nov.
