St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. February 29 – March 2 Scotty Richard, 51, 900 block of Highway 190, Lawtell. Domestic abuse battery (child endangerment). Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Eunice Police pay raise trumped by Ville Platte

Eunice Police officers began receiving a $3 an hour pay raise in January in attempt to retain and attract trained officers. The starting pay moved up to $12.75 an hour. Voters in May 2019 approved a 0.25% sales tax to fund the pay raise.

Some Mardi Gras throws draw police attention

Mardi Gras throws of full cans of beer and Jello shots are drawing the attention of Eunice Police. “We’ve got complaints about people throwing full cans of beer,” Chief Randy Fontenot said. And there are reports of people throwing Jello shots form the Mardi Gras trailers, he said.
