No headlight traffic stop ends with multiple drug charges

A Leonville woman driving a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner at the 2100 block of West Landry Street near Opelousas at about 8:49 p.m. May 2 was stopped for driving at night without headlights. But it was not an ordinary traffic stop, according to a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

In a shocking turn of events on Monday afternoon, one of Rayne’s finest lost his life during a friendly-fire shooting while seeking out a suspect in Rayne. Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly on Tuesday stated Lt. Allen “Noochie” Credeur, 47, was killed in the line of duty at 1:27 p.m.
