St. Landry Parish DA: 3 indicted on murder charges

The St. Landry Parish Grand Jury indicted three men on murder charges for three separate incidents, according to District Attorney Chad Pitre. Jordan Barnes, 33, was indicted for the second-degree murder of Erica Hunt. Hunt went missing in July 2016.

Acadia Parish deputies nab man for stealing crawfish

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday on Potters Road observed an individual running the crawfish traps in the field. The deputy was able to determine that the individual was not employed by the land owner nor had permission to harvest the crawfish, according to a news release from Sheriff K.

Eunice City Jail inmates charged with aggravated arson

State Fire Marshal deputies charged two Eunice City Jail inmates with aggravated  arson for causing a fire in the jail.  Jordan Dwayne Victor, 20, and Kirmontae Venezia, 20, caused an electrical short in order to burn paper and cloth material in the jail Wednesday.

Haley Rae Manuel, 31, of Eunice has been charged with theft of funds over $31,000 and monetary instrument abuse, according to Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guillory.
