School Board approves budget

The St. Landry Parish School Board approved its budget that includes a $991,000 deficit in the general fund. The 2019-2020 budget was approved at the July 11 meeting with a lone “no” vote by Hazel Sias, an Opelousas Board member. Board member Josh Boudreaux was absent.

School Board mileage rate stalls budget

Approval of the St. Landry Parish School Board budget slowed over discussion of a mileage increase. Mileage paid to school system employees has been an issue since January and the next budget, which is to be voted on at a July 11 meeting, calls for a 10 cent increase to 46 cents per mile.

Eunice Elementary roof work approved
