Registration, voting deadlines set for upcoming elections

The last day to register to vote by mail/in person is Feb. 17 for the primary election on March 20, announced Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters. Registration applications may be completed at the Registrar’s Office in Suite 114 of the St. Landry Parish Courthouse at 118 S.

Voter registration deadline is Saturday

Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, announced the deadline to register to vote online (geauxvote.com) for the Dec. 5 election is Saturday. The deadline to request a mail ballot is Dec. 1 for all voters except military, overseas and hospitalized voters.

3K-plus request absentee ballots in St. Landry

More than 3,000 voters had requested absentee ballots in St. Landry as of last Friday and the count was rising, according to Cheryl Miburn, registrar of voters. The 3,000-plus requests compares to a total of about 2,000 four years ago, she said.

Early voting begins Saturday

Early voting for the July 11 election begins Saturday in Eunice and Opelousas. Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, also said Saturday is the last day to register to vote online for the election at geauxvote.com. The Presidential Preference Primary is on the ballot.

Eunice polling place changed approved

The St. Landry Parish Council approved changing the polling place from the building housing the Eunice Food Bank to the Eunice Career and Technical Center.

Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, has announced that the last day to register to vote in person or by mail for the Oct. 12 election will be Sept. 11. The deadline for GeauxVote.com online electronic registration will be Sept. 21.

Up to 15% turnout predicted for school tax election

There are 59,764 voters in St. Landry Parish registered for Saturday’s election. Milburn’s estimate means almost 9,000 votes may be cast Saturday when polls are open from7 a.

Move on to bring early voting to Eunice

Early voting for the next election involving Eunice voters may be held in Eunice. Early voting for all of St. Landry Parish now occurs in the registrar of voters office at the courthouse in Opelousas. Eunice Alderman Dale Soileau said Eunice voters don’t want to go to Opelousas.
