Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations was requested by Iota Police to investigate an officer involved shooting incident involving their department.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 10:05 p.m., Iota officers were dispatched to a residence on 4th Street in Iota. As officers arrived at the location, they encountered a male subject seated in a vehicle and armed with a firearm. During the encounter, the subject was shot by at least one officer. The male subject was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured during the incident. This remains an active investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
