They won two national championships while at LSU Eunice, now they have a chance to add to their softball accomplishments at the next level.
Two-time NJCAA Division II All-American Rebecca Skains will play for the Southeastern Louisiana University Lady Lions this fall.
Skains (West Ouachita) finished the season with a .419 batting average including 80 hits, 18 home runs, 74 RBI, 65 runs scored, 25 walks and a program record 27 doubles.
Skains was named MVP and Offensive Player of the NJCAA Division II national tournament.

Gators sweep LSU to win title

OMAHA, Neb. – For the first time in program history, the Florida Gators are College World Series champions.
For the second straight night, the Gators held on in a nail-biter over conference rival LSU — though the final score might not reflect the close nature of the Tuesday night contest.
Florida survived first-and-third, no-out threats in both the seventh and eighth innings while clinging to a 2-1 lead.
The Gators finally broke through against LSU’s bullpen, scoring four times to put away the Tigers 6-1 at TD Ameritrade Park.

Bengals hit the road for summer ball

When school is out for summer, it is normal for the students to scatter.
But 17 LSU Eunice baseball players are spending their summer across the country participating in numerous collegiate leagues.
“It is great that our players get to participate in these leagues,” LSUE head coach Jeff Willis said. “Not only do they get to refine their skill set, but they get to see another part of the country.
“We have seen numerous players over the years leave for the summer and come back a totally different player,” he said.

A 10–team, four-day high school baseball tournament begins Thursday at LSU Eunice’s Bengal Stadium.
The teams involved are Eunice High, St. Edmund, Kinder, Iowa, St. Louis, DeRidder along with two teams from Barbe and Catholic High of Baton Rouge.
“It is exciting to get to see all the high school players on our field where we can evaluate them,” LSU head baseball coach Jeff Willis said. It is also a chance to showcase our campus to a lot of people that might not have been here.”
