RAGIN’ CAJUNS ROLL PAST LOYOLA, 98-56

LAFAYETTE – JaKeenan Gant posted his second consecutive 20-point game, scoring a career-high 23 points, and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns built a 25-point lead at halftime and defeated NAIA Loyola University of New Orleans, 98-56, in a non-conference game on Wednesday at the Cajundome.
Malik Marquetti and Johnathan Stove scored 13 points each while Jerekius Davis came off the bench to score a season-high 12 as Louisiana (7-2) built a 44-19 lead at halftime before shooting 21 of 32 (65.6 percent) in the second half to pull away.

Hudspeth out at ULL

LAFAYETTE – Mark Hudspeth has been fired as Louisiana Ragin' Cajun head football coach after seven seasons.
Louisiana's 2017 season ended Saturday in a 63-14 loss to Appalachian State, leaving the Cajuns at 5-7, ensuring a third straight losing season.
Director of Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard released a statement Sunday about the firing.
“I met with Coach Mark Hudspeth to discuss the future of our Football program, and I informed him of my decision to move the program in a different direction, relieving him of his head coaching duties.

Glasco hired as UL softball coach

LAFAYETTE – Gerry Glasco is the new head coach of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball.
Glasco coached the previous nine seasons in the Southeastern Conference and is considered one of the nation’s top offensive coaches and recruiters.
He helped lead Texas A&M to the 2017 Women’s College World Series and was recently appointed associate head coach at Auburn.

Black team captures LSUE Fall Series

It was Koi Westbrook's treat that provided the trick for the Black Magic with a 9-6 Halloween clincher to win Game 5 and the LSU Eunice Fall World Series.
The Carencro native blasted a 3-run home run to push the Black comfortably in front of the Golden Goats.
One night removed from a 16 run outburst, the Black Magic continued its offensive onslaught.
The squad pounded 13 hits and enjoyed a five run 6th inning. Brian Fairbanks picked up the win for the Black Magic.

Lotief fired as Lady Cajun softball coach

LAFAYETTE — Michael Lotief has been fired as Louisiana-Lafayette’s head softball coach.
The university issued at statement Wednesday afternoon which stated, “Following complaints of students and a staff member of the Louisiana Athletics department, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has terminated head softball coach Michael Lotief, effective immediately.
“Lotief violated University and UL System policies by subjecting student-athletes and coworkers to violent, vulgar language and verbal and physical assault, creating a hostile learning and working environment.
