LAFAYETTE – Dr. Bryan Maggard, who spent the past 21 years in athletics administration at the University of Missouri, was officially introduced as Director of Athletics for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.

The hiring of Maggard, a native of Dexter, Kan., and Executive Associate Athletic Director at Mizzou, is subject to approval by the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors.

Bengals begin with strong showing

The second-ranked LSU Eunice baseball team opened the 2017 season with a 12-2, 11-5, 11-1 sweep over North Lake College.
LSUE will entertain Southwest Tennessee Community College in a four-game series beginning 6 p.m. Thursday.
Bo Myers (Zachary) went 4-for-6 in two games against North Lake with seven RBI and a home run.
Michael Claverie (Live Oak)went 6-for-12 with five RBI and a home run in three games.
Hunter Feduccia (Barbe) went 4-for-8 with five RBI and a home run in three games.

Bengals, Lady Bengals open seasons

The second-ranked LSU Eunice baseball team begins the 2017 baseball season with a three-game series against North Lake College (Dallas).
Today’s first pitch is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday’s games will begin at 1 p.m.
“It always extremely exciting,” LSUE head baseball coach Jeff Willis said of the opening weekend. “We are ready to face an opponent where the games count.
“It is not our goal to win the game,” he added. “It is our goal to play the best we can possibly play.
“If we do that through the process, the results will take care of itself.
