Four Lady Bengals named to All-Region 23 team

A quartet of LSU Eunice standouts were named to the 2018 All-Region Softball team as announced by the Region 23 women's director. LSU Eunice has the second most nomination behind 2018 NJCAA Division II National Champion Jones County Junior College.

Bengals win Region 23 title

After winning its first three games of the Region 23 tournament, the top-ranked Bengals were upset as Meridian Community College rolled to a 6-1 win in the title game. LSU Eunice then cruised to a 10-3 win over the Eagles on its way to a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series.

Lady Bengals finish fourth

CLINTON, Mississippi. – LSU Eunice saw its season come to a close, just one game short of the final day of the NJCAA Tournament. The Lady Bengals (49-20) finished the tournament fourth out of the 16-team field.

LSUE heads to world series

CLINTON, Mississippi – Two-time defending NJCAA Division II champions LSU Eunice begin its title defense this week at the softball world series at Traceway Park. Five-time national champion LSUE will make the trip to the national tournament for the seventh time in the last eight years.

No. 1 Bengals to host regionals

The last two times LSU Eunice was the host team of the NJCAA Division II regional tournament, the Bengals went on to win the national championship. The top-ranked Bengals (48-5) will lead the bracket that also includes MACJC champion No. 6 Pearl River (37-9).

LSUE honored nine sophomores with a pair of wins Friday over Baton Rouge Community College in their final home doubleheader. Lady Bengal pitcher Heather Zumo pitched a complete-game shutout as LSUE rolled to a 6-0 win in the opener.

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball will make the 50-minute trip east to Baton Rouge on Wednesday to face LSU in the first round of the NIT as the official 2018 bracket was released Sunday night. Tipoff will be set for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.

LSUE to add three sports

LSU Eunice announced it will be adding three more sports to its varsity sports roster. Beginning in the 2018-2019 academic school year, the Bengals will field a men's basketball team as well as men's and women's soccer. The additions bring the total number of varsity athletics to six.
