Another title

SLIDELL -- The Ville Platte Girl’s Recreational Association 8U All-Stars are at it again.
The young ladies with the tough as nails, never say die attitude took home another championship title last weekend, as they battled their way to the USSSA Recreational All-Stars State Tournament title.
This title makes the second state title won by Ville Platte along with the USSSA Class C state championship won two weekends ago in Broussard.

IN LIMBO — The Breaux Bridge High football field has been ready for the installation of the shock pad and artificial turf for more than a month but a dispute over the pad specifications is holding up the field’s completion. Board officials are hoping the issue will be resolved by next week.(Henri C. Bienvenu)

Shock pad dispute delays BB gridiron

A special school board meeting Monday afternoon failed to resolve a holdup in the installation of artificial turf on the Breaux Bridge High football field.
A contract with Geo Surfaces of Baton Rouge, a firm that installed the St. Martinville Sr. High turf and dozens of other athletic fields, called for completion of the project by July 1. But a dispute over the shock pad that supports the artificial turf has the project bogged down.

Patterson 12U All-Stars win bracket opener

The Patterson Babe Ruth 12U All-Stars won their first bracket game at the Babe Ruth Southwest Region Tournament with an 11-1 victory against Hamburg, Arkansas, Thursday in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Patterson took a 3-0 lead after an inning, led 5-1 after three complete and extended its lead to 7-1 after the fourth. The game ended after five innings with Patterson ahead 11-1 against Arkansas’ northern state champion.

Wriborg tabbed to USA Today All-Louisiana Team

Hunter Wriborg’s list of accolades continue to grow well into the summer after the junior hurler helped lead the Iota Bulldogs to a Class 3A state championship appearance last month.
Wriborg, who was named the LSWA Class 3A MVP, recently earned a spot on the prestigious USA Today All-Louisiana Baseball second team.
Wriborg, who was also an All-District selection, went 10-1 on the mound and posted an earned run average of 0.86. At the plate, he hit for a .320 average with 31 RBI.
