Lady Cats await state playoff pairing

This season has just been everything the Eunice High Lady Cats volleyball program could ask for as it closes out the regular season and moves into the postseason. However, the Lady Cats will need to recover from a pair of setbacks as they turn onto the road to the state tournament.

Blue Jays looking foward to rematches

For the first time all season, things didn’t go according to plan for the St. Ed’s Blue Jays. For the first time all season, things weren’t perfect. After a strong first half where the Jays led Catholic-Pointe Coupee by a 22-19 margin, the Hornets did the unthinkable in the second half.

Despite loss, Bobcats keep playoff hopes alive

Looks can be deceiving. With that being a cliché that’s been expounded over-and-over through the years, it’s one for a reason. Things aren’t always what they seem, and that’s the case for the Eunice Bobcats after last Friday’s 48-21 loss to the Iowa Yellow Jackets in District 3-4A play.

Blue Jays drop a tight district battle

Earlier this season, St. Ed’s head coach James Shiver likened District 5-1A to the most famous high school football district in all of Louisiana, the Catholic League. No, he didn’t mean in terms of sheer talent.

Lady Cats now 21-2 for season

Eunice High Lady Cats volleyball continues that surely has the chance to be a historic season for the program. Now 21-2 on the season, they continue to put away team after team. They’ve now won 20 games in a row. Beyond that, they’re getting better and better as they close out the regular season.

Bobcats post a win

The Eunice High Bobcats have experienced nothing short of a struggle throughout its 2024 football season. Be it injuries or misfortune, nothing seemed to go right in the team’s 0-6 start to the season.

Blue Jays stomp Trojans

There are some moments when you just begin to understand how good a team can be, and St. Ed’s 57-7 thrashing of Sacred Heart in a rivalry District 5-1A game may have been one of those moments. There’s so many layers to last Friday’s domination that can be explored. For St.

Hard work paying off for Lady Cats

There’s no other way to say it for the Eunice High Lady Cats volleyball program, other than they’re in the midst of what could be a special season for the program when the smoke clears on it.

Marion Fruge had a 58-year impact on students, athletes

Impact can be measured in many ways. For Eunice High Athletic Hall of Fame coach Marion Fruge, known to athletes as “Coach Frug” or his family as “Poppsie,” it was a life dedicated to education and inspiring both students and athletes through Evangeline, Acadia and St.
