5-1A All-District team released

  By Tom Dodge Sports Editor After a third-place finish in district, the St. Edmund Blue Jays placed eight players on the 5-1A All-District football team. The Blue Jays also had 10 named as honorable mention selections.

Lady Jays grab first victory

  VILLE PLATTE – The St. Edmund Lady Jays earned their first win of the season with a 40-33 win over Basile in the loser’s bracket of the Sacred Heart of Ville’s annual Turkey tournament.

Bobcats fall at Red Devil tourney

  PORT BARRE – The Eunice High Bobcats dropped games to Carencro and Cecilia in boys basketball action during play at the Port Barre High Thanksgiving Tournament.  The Bobcats opened the season with a 73-58 loss to Mamou on the road despite a 23-point effort by J’seri Guillory.

Iota routs Jays at Turkey tourney

VILLE PLATTE – Iota  began with a 28-5 first quarter run as the Bulldogs cruised to a 61-34 win over St. Edmund in the Sacred Heart of Ville Platte Turkey Tournament. Dylan Hebert drilled two treys and added an inside bucket while Colby Wilson scored off a steal as Iota pushed ahead, 10-0.

Turkey tourney tips off Monday

      The annual Turkey Tournament is set to begin Monday at Sacred Heart of Ville Platte. The girls bracket tips off at 9:30 a.m. with Oakdale  facing Crowley. Pine Prairie will face Montgomery at 11 a.m., while the St. Edmund Lady Jays will take on host Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m.

Sacred Heart sweeps Jays in season opener

   Fast starts by both the Lady Trojans and Trojans helped Sacred Heart of Ville Platte earn a season-opening sweep over St. Edmund Thursday night. The Lady Trojans  jumped out 22-6 first quarter lead and cruised to a 54-20 win over the Lady Jays.
