7-on-7 preps the passing game

It’s another step in the process of getting better over the summer months. High school seven-on-seven tournaments have taken off in recent years as an opportunity to teams to improve their passing offenses. The rules are simple: games are on a 20-minute running clock. Only passing plays are allowed.

St. Ed coach reveals a secret

St. Ed’s head football coach James Shiver has a secret. It’s a secret he hopes will help launch his Blue Jays into the elite teams in the Division IV Select division playoffs in 2024. The secret is simple.

Summer training lifts fall success

Championship teams are never built in the summertime. But, they certainly could be destroyed there. It’s the reason why summer strength and conditioning programs have become so important to high school football programs around the state. It’s in the dog days of summer where resilience is built.

Former athletic director sues over demotion

A former athletic director at North Central High School is suing the St. Landry Parish School Board and former Superintendent Patrick Jenkins asserting she was unfairly demoted. Vanessa Taylor filed suit on April 26 in the 27th Judicial District Court.
