Hold off on pruning freeze-damaged plants

The entire state of Louisiana, along with many others, just got an unusual dose of ice, sleet and snow. Despite our valiant efforts to cover and protect plants, some will still be lost to the recent hard freezes.

Samuel Delaney Skyla and Brandon Delaney of Ville Platte announce the birth of their son, Samuel Colt Delaney, born at Acadian Medical Center on Feb. 3 weighing 8 pounds and 9 ounces. Paternal grandmother is Heather Delaney of Ville Platte. He was welcomed home by Dean Delaney.

Cherry trees symbolize friendship, beauty

Flowering cherry trees are true showstoppers. These trees can be seen blooming around Louisiana in February and March. In the southern part of the state, the first flowers appear in late January. Right now, they are in full bloom on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, and boy are they gorgeous!
