What began as a "crazy idea" among a group of friends has grown into a community tradition that has raised tens of thousands of dollars for children battling cancer. This year marked the third annual Prom with a Purpose fundraiser, an event created by a group of local women determined to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The McNeese State University Honor Roll for the 2026 spring semester has been announced. The honor roll lists undergraduate students earning at least a 3.0 or B average while carrying 12 or more semester hours.
Dr. Sherika Guidry-Simon is the new Principal at Sunset Middle School and a Licensed Professional Counselor. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, she brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the community.
