Cold pink lemonade on a hot summer day

First Story Time hour at Eunice Public Library

The first Summer Story Time hour at the Eunice Public Library was Wednesday. Bobbie Bordelon, children’s librarian, read a storybook, “Chef Creole,” by Johnette Downing, and did a sing along with the reading. This summer’s Story Time theme is “Libraries Rock!” and every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Tickets on sale for Players’ Theatre’s Play “Romeo and Winifred”

Tickets are now on sale for “Romeo and Winifred” at Eunice Players’ Theatre. The show is a modern-day twist on Shakespeare’s classic, set in modern-day NYC, with the feuding Montagues and Capulets amid designer fashion icons, shysters with pirated merchandise, and a Roman chorus.

LSU AgCenter rice field day set for June 27 in Crowley

CROWLEY — Rice farmers at the LSU AgCenter H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station field day on June 27 will hear about research being conducted to help them grow a better crop.

Jackson Shipley Dr. Leah Guempel Shipley and Richard Shipley of Dripping Springs, Texas announce the birth of their son, Jackson Richard Shipley, born at St. David’s in Austin, Texas, on May 22 weighing 6 pounds and 2 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Guempel of Eunice.

Vacation Bible School at New Hope Fellowship

Four and five-year-old children enjoyed a parachute outdoor activity at New Hope Fellowship Tuesday morning during the church’s Vacation Bible School, themed, “Ship Wrecked, Rescued by Jesus.” The adult team leaders are Maddie Smith and Joy Jodon. The Bible school began Monday and concludes Friday.

‘Game On’ Vacation Bible School at FBC

First Baptist Church in Eunice held its Vacation Bible School this week with a theme, “Game On!” Children kindergarten through sixth grade participated in games, activities, crafts, Bible songs and lessons, and enjoyed snacks.

International Day at St. Edmund School

St. Edmund School sixth graders observed International Day on May 11 in the Jeanmard Center. Students in groups had the opportunity to choose a country, research information about it, write and do a report on the chosen country, which included detailed knowledge of the country.

August Broussard at Liberty

The “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Radio & TV show Saturday at the Liberty Center at 6 p.m. will have a performance by Cajun August Broussard. Show starts at 6 p.m. The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children ages 7 to 12 are $3.

Camping seasons starts for Louisiana 4-Her's
