Princeton Review places UL Lafayette among best

LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is among the “Best 388 Colleges for 2023” for undergraduate education among the country’s four-year colleges, according to The Princeton Review.

Cassidy announces health education grant at LSUE

U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D.announced that Louisiana State University Eunice has been granted $1 million dollars in funding from Congress, via the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022.

Tourism promise

Tourism took a deep hit when the COVID pandemic forced people to stay home starting in March 2020. In Eunice, that was combined with the closing of the Liberty Theatre and Jean Lafitte Prairie Acadian Culture Center. Both are shutdown for repairs.
Mary Tate Collier, a resident at Eunice Manor, celebrated her 100th birthday with a party Friday. Collier and her late sister, Ethel Tate, owned and managed Mary Collier Fashions from 1966 until 1984. Blowing out her candle on her birthday cake with her are Nickie Toups, administrator, left, and Lauren Lirette, minimum data set nurse at Eunice Manor.

Collier clothed many in Eunice

It was a morning to celebrate Friday because Eunice Manor resident Mary Collier would turn 100 years old on Sunday. Collier, born on Aug. 21, 1922, in Ville Platte, is last surviving child from her family.

Roberts Cove Germanfest returns after two-year absence

Come celebrate German-style at the 2022 annual Roberts Cove Germanfest on Oct. 1 and 2. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and aftermath, the festival was forced to be canceled in 2020 and 2021, but will now return to the historic grounds of St.

Eunice High principal praises LEAP results

Eunice High School Principal Mitch Fontenot praised his students and staff for their LEAP score performance. The scores were released Aug. 3 by the state Department of Education. Last week, Fontenot released an assessment of the scores.

Parish Council OKs poll changes

After numerous questions about voting, demographer Mike Hefner said voters with questions about their polling place should contact the parish Registrar of Voters Office. Hefner was at Wednesday’s St. Landry Parish Council meeting where some polling locations were changed.
