‘Cajundome City’ to premiere at UL Lafayette’s LITE Center

Sales tax growth slowed in July

St. Landry Parish sales tax growth slowed in July compared to previous months, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. The parish’s total collections through July were $52,352,868, up 3.4% or $1,734,317 more than year-to-date July 2021 total.

Corporal punishment ends in parish public schools

As the school year begins today for students, the St. Landry Parish School Board voted to end corporal punishment. The vote to end paddling and spanking students was made on a voice at the Aug. 4 School Board meeting.

8th annual Fête-Dieu du Teche coincides with Eucharistic Revival

Fête-Dieu du Teche 2022, to take place Aug. 15, coincides with the three-year Eucharistic Revival underway in the United States. The intention for the all-day spiritual and cultural celebration will be for a Renaissance Eucharistique in Acadiana and beyond. The day begins at 8 a.m.

First United Methodist Church of Eunice welcomed a new pastor and assistant to the pastor this summer. Dr. Warren Langford begins serving as pastor and his assistant is Mrs. Christy Brammer. Both also serve FUMC at Crowley and Ebeneezer Methodist Church.

Annual Zydeco Breakfast scheduled for Sept. 3

The City of Opelousas, Zydeco Music Capital of the World, hosts the Annual Zydeco Breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 3 in downtown Opelousas on the St. Landry Parish Courthouse Square. Featured musicians are Jeffery Broussard and The Creole Cowboys.
