Mardi Gras band lineup announced

Holiday celebrations are still fresh memories, but here comes the big party. The Eunice Mardi Gras band schedule has been released. The Cajun Mardi Gras Festival in Eunice will begin Feb. 17 and conclude on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21. The live bands line up will include: Feb. 17, at 7 p.m.

Dr. Hawk Cambron, M.D., a family medicine specialist with the Louisiana Family Practice in Eunice, was the guest speaker at the Eunice Rotary Club meeting Wednesday. Cambron asked the group of Rotarians, “Who deals with anxiety and stress?” Many factors can bring on anxiety, stress and depression.

Workforce up, jobless rate down in November

The Tri-Parish workforce was up nearly 2% in November compared to a November 2021 and jobless rates are down from a year ago, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The Tri-Parish workforce totaled 68,506 in November, up 1,321 from the November 2021 count.

Incoming Police Chief Kyle LeBouef says one of his biggest challenges is staffing and that’s because Eunice is behind other police departments in its pay. LeBouef says he has talked to Mayor Scott Fontenot and city council members about the pay issue and there is agreement.
