UL Lafayette Summer 2022 Commencement set for Friday at Cajundome

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will confer undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees on Friday during Summer 2022 Commencement. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Cajundome. Tickets aren’t required.

Mass for Charlene Richard set Aug. 11 The Charlene Richard Foundation announces the date of the annual Mass marking the 63rd Anniversary of the death of Charlene Marie Richard, Servant of God. The Mass will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard.

Hurricanes generated 800K claims

Over the past two hurricane seasons, 800,000 claims were generated statewide following Hurricanes Laura, Delta, Zeta, and Ida. Because of this, insurance companies paid $23 billion to policy holders for damages.

The engraved bricks for St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial will go up in cost and slightly in size effective Aug. 1 at $100. The Memorial has: — 112 brick spaces available on the Military Walk-way; and — 204 brick spaces on the civilian walk-way located on the left side of the Monument.

Hearing set on proposed animal control ordinance

A public meeting to address concerns with the animal control ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Delta Grand Theatre, 120 S. Market St., Opelousas. An animal control ordinance was drafted by a committee consisting of St. Landry animal enthusiasts.
