CFMA Scholarship to be awarded CFMA (Cajun French Music Association) Acadiana Charter Chapter will be awarding a $500 scholarship starting with the fall semester, $250 per semester.

Johnson: Louisiana is ready for ‘red tsunami’

Two days after celebrating the country’s independence, U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson, who represents the state’s fourth district, held a town hall meeting in Pine Prairie. The congressman acknowledged all the bad news dominating the headlines today. “There’s a lot of bad things going on,” he said.

Hospital employee honored for 50 years of service

Her one and only job for the past 50 years is working at the hospital in Eunice. Marcella Rider Prejean began her job and career 50 years ago at the age of 17. She began working at Moosa Memorial Hospital in data processing under the administrator and CEO Doug Longman.

Aldermen give extra time for property

The owner of property at 241 E. Oak Ave. has 30 days to remedy problems before the city takes action. The Eunice Board of Aldermen voted to allow owner Lawrence Vallery Jr. the extra time after it was explained he has health problems.

City presented Liberty document

Rev. Samuel Fontana is new pastor at St. Thomas More Catholic Church

The Rev. Samuel “Sam” Fontana is the new pastor at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. His official first day at the church was July 4. Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel of the Diocese of Lafayette recently posted appointments throughout the parishes and one included Father Sam Fontana. Fontana, born on Feb.
