Eunice Mardi Gras ‘picture perfect’

A blue sky with afternoon temperatures in the 70s blessed the Eunice Mardi Gras. “Today is just picture perfect. Look at the people having fun,” said Mayor Scott Fontenot as he looked over the crowd on 2nd Street at about 2 p.m. “It is clean,” he said of the street.

Church Point Mardi Gras Run is today

The Church Point Mardi Gras Run Main Street Parade is scheduled at about 2 p.m. Sunday. The Adult Courir de Mardi Gras begins with sign-up at 7 a.m. at the Saddle Tramp Riding Club, 1036 E. Ebey, Church Point. The run will begin at 8:30 a.m. All runners must be at least 16 years years old.

Taster’s Choice is huge boost for health center

The 11th annual Eunice Community Health Center’s Taster’s Choice raised $35,000, according to Yancy Fontenot, the center’s executive director. The crowd was most likely the biggest crowd ever for the event.

Student to teacher ratio may increase

The St. Landry Parish School Board will be called upon to decide on increasing the student to teacher ratio district wide at its meeting Thursday. The Board’s Executive Committee agreed to send the policy change to the full Board at a meeting on Feb. 21.

Church Point Mardi Gras Run is Sunday

The Church Point Mardi Gras arrives beginning with Saturday’s Children’s Parade followed on Sunday with thae adult Courir de Mardi Gras Run. The children’s run starts with registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Saddle Tramp Clubhouse. The run begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.

Basile Mardi Gras begins Friday

The Basile Mardi Gras includes the following. 7 p.m. Friday, Basile Roadhouse. 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Basile Roadhouse. Mardi Gras Run begins at the Town Park at 7 a.m. and ends at the town park around 3 p.m. with music by Mark LeLeux and Chanky-Chank playing under the Pig Barn from 2 to 5 p.m.

Parade of Paws set for Saturday

It’s Calling for All Dog lovers...The 6th annual Parade of Paws will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Eunice. One can register in advance for $10 at Beaucoup located on South 2nd in Eunice. Registration will also be held the day of the parade from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
