BESE picks Jefferson Parish Schools leader for state superintendent

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary education has selected Cade Brumley to be the state’s next education superintendent. Brumley has led Jefferson Parish Schools, the state’s largest public school system with more than 50,000 students, since March 2018.

Eunice polling place changed approved

The St. Landry Parish Council approved changing the polling place from the building housing the Eunice Food Bank to the Eunice Career and Technical Center.

EUNICE ~ On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Kasey Gerard Leger passed away suddenly at age 29. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery with Father Hampton Davis officiating.

Arthur Ray Sweeting

Arthur Ray Sweeting passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the age of 91. No Services have been planned at this time. He will be enurned at a later date in Roselawn Cemetery in Terra Haute, Indiana.
