Rayne Mardi Gras Parade, After Party and Gumbo Cook-Off planned

RAYNE - The Fifth Annual Rayne Mardi Gras Parade and After Party promises to be a fun, family friendly safe event for everyone to enjoy. It’s hard to believe this began five years ago, with co-sponsorship of the City of Rayne and everyone who volunteers to help.

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, January 20, 2020 for Hubert Belleau, 91, who passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 in Chataignier. Deacon Chuck Ortego will conduct funeral services.

Acadia Parish Farmers’ Appreciation The Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Supreme Rice are sponsoring the annual Farmers’ Appreciation Dinner in honor of Acadia Parish farmers. The event will take place on Thursday at the International Rice Festival Building in Crowley.

Meeting dates for the Acadia Parish Police Jury will remain the same for the coming year, but the time has been pushed back half an hour. A.J. “Jay” Credeur said the current 5:30 p.m. meeting time is hard for some working people to meet, “especially if you work in Lafayette.

Church Point council OKs replacement of water lines

The Church Point Council approved the replacing of water lines on Marie and Michelle streets during its regular meeting on Jan. 6. Mayor Ryan “Spanky” Meche said, “This has been a problem for 19 years. It was the reason why last year the whole town went under a boil advisory.
