New bridge celebrated in Swords

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on July 1 to mark the completion of a new bridge on Joe W Road, also designated the Mathias Guillory Memorial Roadway, in the Swords community.

Deputy hurt, suspect killed in shooting

An Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputy was wounded and a burglary was suspected was killed in a shooting that occurred at about 4 a.m. Thursday in Mamou, according to a news release from Master Trooper Daniel “Scott” Moreau of the Louisiana State Police.

Robert Etney Brown

Robert Etney Brown passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017, at the age of 44. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice. Father John Brown will officiate.
