Doris Arnaud passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the age of 85. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.

Linda Frey Campbell

Linda Frey Campbell passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the age of 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 1:00 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata. Father Joseph Tran will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Acadia School Board budget OK’d

As far as the Acadia Parish School Board’s Budget and Finance Committee is concerned, the door can be closed on the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 budgets.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful shows new website

Keep Louisiana Beautiful held its regional meeting in Eunice at LSU Eunice campus on Wednesday at the Acadian Center. Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful, said it is the second time the city of Eunice served as the host for the event.

There’s no record of what the ancient settlers of Louisiana thought about Louisiana’s live oaks, but poets and travelers have written about their majesty and beauty since they first arrived with pen and paper.

Prostitution charge filed in massage parlor arrest

Prostitution charges have been filed in an arrest at a local massage parlor. Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly said officers executed a search warrant at Asian Spa Massage Parlor at 1405 The Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m. June 7.

Ditch debris linked to flooding

Alderwoman Germaine Simpson thinks clearing debris from ditches along city streets will help alleviate flooding problems. Simpson made that point during Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting. “When we get 10 inches of rain we get a lot calls...” she said of flooding issues.
