Good hedges make good neighbors

You may have heard the old proverb “good fences make good neighbors.” Robert Frost made the phrase popular in his poem “Mending Wall.” The debate may have begun there, but I say the same can be true of a good hedge.

Tourism director seeks Eunice pro for commission

The executive director of the St. Landry Parish Tourism Commission asked the Parish Council to appoint Alisha Mire to the commission. The appointment is to be decided at the Sept. 15 meeting of the Parish Council.

Parish Council may go live on Facebook

The St. Landry Parish Council may place its meetings live on Facebook. The Council’s Public Works Committee approved the Facebook idea that now goes to the full Council meeting on Sept. 15.

School Board widens its vision from initial building plan

St. Landry Parish School Board members agreed to grow the first of a three-phase building plan from $100 million to $158 million during a committee of the whole meeting Thursday.

St. Landry Parish school employees must submit their vaccine status or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing beginning this week. The Board voted 10-2 to authorize the Superintendent Patrick Jenkins to begin the plan. Voting against the measure were members Randy Wagley and Kyle Boss.
