Local farmer Raymond and Tammy Fruge recently directed a $2,500 Bayer Fund America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation to St. Edmund Catholic School.
St. Edmund will use the funds to awards given to students at our Academic Pep Rally.

Hurricane Ida decimated SE Louisiana with 155 mph winds

Hurricane Ida slammed into southeast Louisiana on Sunday packing 155 mph winds that slowed into hellacious hours of destruction from Grand Isle north to Baton Rouge.
The category 4 hurricane landed on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
About a million people were left without power.

“We fared probably the best you can possibly fare when you’ve got a hurricane that hits Louisiana that size,” Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said. “Everything was good in town.

Ida spared St. Landry Parish

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard said, “We are prepared for the worst and hoping for the best” as Hurricane Ida approached.
As Ida made landfall Sunday in southeast Louisiana hammering Grand Isle and everything north of there, St. Landry got the best of the storm.
