LHC Group makes record $20M investment in UL Lafayette nursing program

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and LHC Group announced on Thursday a historic and transformational partnership designed to further each of their respective missions of recruiting and equipping more nurses and other health care professionals.

CDA meeting set for April 5 The Catholic Daughters of Americas (CDA) will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, April 5 at the Jeanmard Center. Members are asked to bring a canned good to continue to make donations to the Eunice Food Bank.

Eunice elementary school plan approved

A plan to change Highland Elementary into an early learning center focused on 4-year-olds and move its pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade students to Eunice’s three other elementary school passed without dissent at St. Landry Parish School Board meeting Monday.

Information sought about Roberts Cove Road burglary

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a residential burglary which occurred in the 5000 block of Roberts Cove Road between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 2020. Entry was gained into the residence by kicking in a door. Once inside, two safes weighing 150 lbs.

This time repairs to Eunice Elementary may be completed

Previous reports that repairs to Eunice Elementary have proven inaccurate. But this time when Claudia Blanchard, director of operations for the St Landry Parish School Board, said the classroom building damaged by fire in August 2018 may be used for testing in April or May, it may be true.

Some things in the Catholic Church will never change

The Vatican came out last week and confirmed that it would not be “blessing” same sex unions, a move that should have surprised no one. The church changes certain things all the time, adapting and updating as it sees fit.
