LSUE’s Brooklyn Boardman named a 2021 New Century Transfer Scholar

LSU Eunice’s Brooklyn Boardman has been named a 2021 New Century Transfer Scholar and will receive a $2,250 scholarship. The prestigious scholarship is awarded by the honor society, Phi Theta Kappa.

Music professor seeks music instruments to donate to Dominican Republic students

Dr. Benjamin Yates’ trombone isn’t the only instrument he’ll take to the Dominican Republic when he travels to the Caribbean nation to perform with professional orchestras.

James Elvin Ardoin passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the age of 87. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Pine Prairie.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. March 19 Brycelyn Ray Anderson, 20, 500 block of S. Mallet Street, Eunice. Careless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of Schedule I CDS (2 counts).

Sunset artist among those featured at Acadian Cultural Center art exhibition for Women’s History Month

In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, the Acadian Cultural Center hosts the art of Jerilyn LaVergne. The special exhibit is free, open to the public, and on view through May 29.

2 drivers killed in 3-vehicle crash on I-10 in Acadia Parish

A three-vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 10 near mile marker 69, east of Jennings claimed the life of 28-year-old Erik Antonio Munos of Lafayette and 60-year-old Johnny Gene Carson of Spring, Texas, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.

St. Landry Parish man killed in single-vehicle crash

A single-vehicle crash at about 8 p.m. Thursday on La. 103 near Hebert Ortego Road in St. Landry Parish took the life of 20-year-old Caleb Alexander Doucet of Washington, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.
