Suit filed to clean up Cankton site

St. Landry Parish and the village of Cankton have filed suit to clean up alleged contamination at the former 80-acre Cankton Tank Farm/MAR Services oilfield waste treatment, storage and disposal facility near Cankton, according to a news release from Lafayette attorney Bill Goodell.

Multiple shots fired on North 2nd

Eunice Police are investigating multiple shots fired on North 2nd Street Tuesday. According to the Eunice Police radio dispatch log, police were dispatched to the scene at 10:23 p.m. in the area of 1st and 2nd streets. “We do have suspects,” Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
