Drive-thru COVID-19 testing today There will be a drive-thru COVID 19 testing from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Eunice Health Unit Thursday. The location is at 131 City Ave. For testing, pre-register at health.questdiagnostics.com/stlou. Results will be available online within four to five days.

School Board about to alter its meeting format

For years the St. Landry Parish School Board has followed a procedure of committee meetings followed by a regular meeting with all Board members present. At its Dec. 3 meeting the Board met as a committee of the whole prior to the regular session.

Mayor says city crews aren’t for garbage collection

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot made the city’s case at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting that its crews should not be picking garbage. “We are not the trash collector in the parish,” he said. “Solid Waste contracts with Waste Connections. They are the trash collector in the parish,” Fontenot said.

Church Point teen’s trial set Feb. 1

A Church Point teenager is set to stand trial in February in the shooting death of another Church Point teen. Nicholas W. Ardoin, 18, is scheduled to be tried on Feb. 1, 2021, in connection with the Nov. 2 shooting of 14-year-old Trey’kwan Butler. Ardoin, who was arrested the following day, Nov.

Thefts target catalytic converters

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Deputy Jared Harbour of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office needs help in solving a rash of burglaries throughout the parish. During November, deputies responded to eight separate burglaries involving the theft of catalytic converters.

Eunice Rotary food drive is underway

The annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive sponsored by Super 1 Foods is here. Eunice schools will collect canned goods for the drive through Monday. The Rotarians will pick up all canned goods from each school on Tuesday. Rotarians will plan to deliver food to needy families on Dec. 19.
