As we wrap up the year, we have many things to do to prepare for winter and spring. Winter is dormancy time for perennials, deciduous plants and warm-season turfgrasses. In some ways, it is also dormancy time for us. So it’s time to get things done in the garden before our winter hibernation begins.

Eunice Food Bank receives 6.5 tons of food during drive

Donations nearly doubled at the Eunice Food Bank’s annual food drive held Thursday, according to Mary Ann Guillory, director. Volunteers helped greet, meet and unload items from vehicles. Volunteers weighed in food items, and others inside the food bank sorting food and placed their stock.

Sales tax collections outpacing last year

Sales tax collections in St. Landry Parish are on pace to finish the year at a record level, according to the November sales tax report from the St. Landry Parish School Board tax division. The 11-month total for sales taxes in St. Landry Parish were $71,599.254, up 11.

Eunice student earns top honors at UL Lafayette

David Allen is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s overall Outstanding Master’s Graduate. He was among five finalists for the award. They were recognized on Wednesday during a Fall 2020 Commencement ceremony for the Graduate School at Cajun Field.
