Deputies graduate from academy

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office announced the graduation of three more sheriff’s deputies from the St. Martin Sheriff’s Basic Training Academy. The police academy is 15 weeks of classes that instruct officers throughout the Acadiana area.

Downtown mural coming to life

The mural on Walnut Street came to life with colors, but is not finished. Artist Hannah Gumbo said the mural is to be completed by the end of the month. The mural is funded through a $5,000 grant from the Acadiana Center for Arts ArtSpark program and Lafayette Economic Development.

Early voting begins Saturday

Early voting for the Dec. 8 election begins at Saturday at the Eunice Municipal Complex, 301 South 2nd St. Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, said early voting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Dec. 1 except for Sunday.
