Buford Trahan

Mr. Buford Trahan, 74, of Iota, died at 2:34 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, in his residence. Mr. Trahan’s wishes were to be cremated. Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Trahan was a resident of Iota for two months, moving there from Rayne.

School board approves proposed budgets at recent meeting

On Wednesday, the Evangeline Parish School Board heard from district chief financial officer Amy LaFleur, who shared a breakdown of the 2017-2018 budget and the 2018-2019 budget. For the 2017-2018 budget, LaFleur stated that the general fund had a surplus of $153,239.73.
