The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sept. 14 Cory Jude Brasseaux, 48, 4900 block of Bridge Street Highway, St. Martinville. Domestic abuse with strangulation / child endangerment. Arrested by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department.

State Police arrest Kaplan woman

A Kaplan women was arrested by the Louisiana State Police on forgery and filing or maintaining false public records. Heidie Stelly Romero, 33, of Kaplan, was an employee of the state Office of Motor Vehicles.

Guidry appointed new Kaplan City Clerk

Patterson council joins opioid litigation

PATTERSON — The city council has joined the effort to hold Big Pharma accountable for the opioid crisis. On Tuesday, the council voted unanimously to become one of the Louisiana communities represented by a group of attorneys in a possible lawsuit to reclaim the financial costs of opioid abuse.

Berwick joins opioid litigation

The town of Berwick has joined several other area councils in signing on to participate in lawsuits against opioid manufacturers and distributors.

Historical Roberts Cove items sought by museum

The Roberts Cove German Heritage Museum is preparing once again for this year’s Germanfest. The 24th annual Germanfest will be held Oct. 6-7 at the festival grounds in Roberts Cove. This year the museum will be taking a look at the first German settlement in northern prairies of Acadia Parish.
