Hearings set on road construction priorities

A series of public hearings will be conducted by the Joint Transportation, Highways, & Public Works Committee for the highway construction priorities for 2019-2020.

Register to vote online by Oct. 16

The final day to register online to vote in the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 16 at Geaux Vote.Com. Early voting is Oct. 23-30 (except Sunday, Oct. 28) from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Early voting will be held at the Eunice Municipal Complex on the first floor.

Vallare announces candidacy for Ward 2 alderwoman

Jackie “JuJu" Vallare has announced her candidacy for the Eunice Ward 2 Board of Aldermen’s seat in the Nov. 6 election. Her announcement includes the following. Vallare is the daughter of Myrtle Neville and the late Wesley Neville, wife of Phillip Vallare Sr.

John "Red Bean" Davis

John “Red Bean” Paul Davis passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at the age of 38. No services have been scheduled at this time. John is survived by his sister Dana Faul, one niece, Kelli Langley and one nephew, Adam Manuel.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Oct. 8 Vivian Brea Soileau, 33, 3700 block of Valentine Rod, Basile. Possession of Schedule II drug less than two grams and contraband. Oct. 9 Brent Nickle, 53, 2100 block of West Magnolia Street, Eunice. Domestic abuse battery.

Felicien LeJeune Jr.

Felicien LeJeune passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the age of 75. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 11:00 AM. at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow at Green Oaks Cemetery. Pastor Caleb Semien will officiate.

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Oct. 9 Lawrence Leger Jr., 53, 100 block of Beauxis Drive, Port Barre. Domestic abuse battery. Arrested by Port Barre Police. Dwight Andrew Chautin, 25, 100 block of Orchid Drive, Opelousas. Domestic abuse battery.

Joseph Harry Sonnier Jr.

Joseph Harry Sonnier Jr. passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the age of 69. No services have been scheduled at this time. A burial will be held at a later date at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mallet.
