Sales tax revenue in St. Landry Parish is on the rise compared to a year ago, according to statistics released by the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division. Total parish year-to-date sales tax revenue rose to $50.5 million in September, up 3.

Man dies after found hanged in Eunice jail

A 38-year-old man who was found hanged in the Eunice City Jail on Sept. 20 died Tuesday, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. John Paul Davis was booked into the jail for remaining after being forbidden at 12:53 p.m. Davis was found at 3:29 p.m. hanged by prison clothing, Fontenot said.
