The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Aug. 17 Micky Lynn Lavergne, 50, 2200 block of Old Highway 13, Mamou. Possession Schedule II, Drug paraphernalia. Arrested by Opelousas Police. Damien Lamont Chevis, 37, 700 block of South Walnut Street, Opelousas.

Eunice Elementary to reopen Friday

Classes will resume at Eunice Elementary School on Friday. There will be a meeting at 6 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Eunice, 331 W. Park Ave., in the sanctuary. Parents of third and fourth grade students are encouraged to attend.

Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Aug. 15 Gwendolyn Rung LeBlanc, 28, 200 block of Mill Street, Eunice. Disturbing the peace, simple criminal damage to property and criminal trespass. Brandy Lee Overstreet, 45, 200 block of Sanders Loop, Trout. Domestic abuse battery.

Cotton Festival scheduled announced

Louisiana Cotton Association members have been working on the 65th Annual Louisiana Cotton Festival, which will be held Oct. 9 to 14. The members are announcing the royalty for the 65th Louisiana Cotton Festival. Kyle Ardoin, Louisiana secretary of state, will be crowned King Cotton 65th.

Abbeville Police to enforce daytime curfew in city

Kids are back in school as the sun has set on summer fun. Now that school is back in session, Abbeville Chief of Police William Spearman wants to remind parents and legal guardians that officers will be enforcing the city’s daytime curfew for ages 7 to 17.
